Falls

Falls increase with advancing age. Women are afflicted twice as much as men. In Europe more than 17 million people are victims of falls. Many falls result in bone fractures and end up with hospital stays and lengthy rehabilitation. Furthermore, additional and long-lasting rehabilitation is necessary.

Among the risk factors for falls are a number of diseases associated with ageing e.g. general fatigue,  physical disability, sight and walking disability, mobility, imbalance etc. but also certain drugs (psychotherapeutic drugs, hypnotic drugs) and architectural barriers (carpets, tree roots etc.).
